HMD unveils Nokia 210 at Mobile World Congress

HMD Global announcement at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain on February 24 was eventful. The company has something or the other for every type of smartphone owner. From entry-level Nokia 1 Plus to mid-range Nokia 4.2 and pure flagship Nokia 9 Pureview with Penta-lens camera.

Nokia 210 is a completely different phone from the Nokia Asha 210 which was launched in April 2013. It’s a featured phone with 2.4 inch display with 167 PPI pixel density. The phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6260A processor coupled with 16 GB inbuilt storage.

The device comes with a 0.3 mega pixel rear camera and has no memory card slot with dual SIM support dual standby.

Nokia 2.1 gets Android 9.0 Pie Update Globally

HMD Global continues to impress when it comes to providing software upgrades. The Finnish smartphone company provides software support for up to two years from the launch date of the device. After Nokia 6, it’s the turn for the entry-level Nokia 2.1 smartphone which receives the Android 9.0 Pie update today.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global confirmed this news of Android Pie for Nokia 2.1 via his Twitter account. He said :

The update is available for download via Over the Air (OTA) and HMD Global has also sent out the update notification on your device. It should be available. If you have received the update notification, then tap on it to download it first and then it will install automatically after your phone gets restarted. It’s recommended to connect your device to available Wi-Fi as it can incur data charges on your mobile if you use 4G VoLTE.

Please make sure that the complete process of upgrading your Nokia 2.1 phone to Android pie can take up to 20-25 minutes. Once the firmware is applied, the apps will be optimized for the latest Android version. Also, you shouldn’t worry about data on your device because nothing will happen to it.

Nokia has kept their promise in terms of delivering firmware upgrade and they will continue to do so in upcoming days as well. They will also upgrade the older Nokia Android phone. The Nokia 2.1 was launched in August 2018 and it’s expected to get upcoming Android Q version as well.

Nokia 5 gets Android Pie Update; Global Roll out Begins

HMD Global has started rolling out the Android Pie update to Nokia 5 smartphone. The update was expected because Nokia has promised software upgrade to their devices for a period of two years from the launch date.

The Nokia 5 was launched in 2017 running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Last year the device was upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo version and this year the Pie update is available. It’s quite surprising to see Nokia keeping their promise.
